Updating on Zachy
Well.... we saw the ortho doc again today. They casted Zachy in a Munster which basically gives him some limited flexion and extension of his elbow but prevents any rotation of the forearm. He will be in this cast two weeks they said and they will look at casting him again in two to three weeks maximum. They said his arm will atrophy so rapidly they will have to change the cast out a couple of times in the next eight weeks.
He had really wanted a glow in the dark cast but they didn't have that wrap so he chose a Kelly green. He was pretty pleased with himself - he requested an MP3 pocket on his cast like his dad had and they obliged him :) Now he can be casted in style at any rate!!! The doctor listed out his restrictions today -- no skiing, no sledding, no hang gliding or parachuting, no wrestling or rough-housing but he said that as long as we make sure is in a sling to keep his arm close to his body he would allow him to snow shoe.
I took Zachy out for a triumphant M&M DQ blizzard for being such a trooper!!!!
The nurse (Jamie is her name) was SO nice to the little kids. Bekah promptly announced that she wanted a pink cast. I explained only one cast for Zachy was in the order for the day but Jamie "casted" Bekah in pink ACE wrap and casted Judah in blue so they could participate also. SUPER SWEET of her!!!!
It is so beautiful right now with the snow and icicles!!! I love the beauty of the day today -- it looks like a crystal palace everywhere you look with thousands of diamonds scattered around the ground!!!
The older boys and Tim are supposed to go out to winter camp tomorrow through Sunday. Tim is talking about taking Zachy and Judah and camping just outside the BSA camp so that the little guys can have some fun. That would be a big boost for my younger boys and would also allow Gabrielle and I to work on our sewing projects with less interruption. We'll see how that all plays out.
I need to scoot - miles to go -- added another slide show of today's activities. Have a wonderful weekend!
