It has been a hard day and I need some chocolate to go with the WHINE in this post!!!
Koliah has not slept well for a couple of days. He has thrush and the medicine is upsetting his stomach. I am super tired.
I started the morning hurriedly trying to get the family out the door to go skiing and hoping to finish our tax papers to send off tomorrow. I hate tax stuff!!!!
Bekah skied for the first time today btw and had a great time!!! My kids look forward to the ski dates ALL year and had decided to spend some of their Christmas money to have the opportunity to go a few times.
I got a call from Tim about 1 this afternoon as I am buried in receipts to tell me that Zachy had fallen and his wrist was going to need to be looked at. Very thankfully Natalie was headed down from the Divide and could bring Zachy into town which saved us a lot of time in getting him to the doc. I met her town about 45 minutes later and headed to the peds office. They x-rayed and confirmed what I diagnosed in looking at it -- a displaced fracture of the radius. All those years transcribing have come in handy :) ANYWAY....... because of the little displacement they decided we needed to see a specialist. We went up to the orthopedics office arriving about 3:30. They took new x-rays. Zachy not only broke his radius but also his ulna. His hand was QUITE swollen by this point and they said it will get worse before it gets better so they put him in a wrapped splint and sent us home with a pain prescription and a return visit scheduled in a week to get his first cast. Because of the break involving two bones he will be casted at least six and maybe up to eight weeks. He won't get to ski the rest of this year.
We didn't get out of the ortho office until 5:30 and there was a mess-up with the prescription. We tried to contact the doc from Costco's pharmacy but to no avail. We were unable to get his pain meds for tonight and will have to tough it out on Tylenol.
Zachy took it all like a champ - I was SO proud of him. Even though he was hurting badly he kept a stiff upper lip.
God graced Koliah with a more mellow afternoon which was a blessing since we were in doctor's offices for so many hours.
We got home at 7 and got Zachy set up on the couch with ice and his arm elevated. He is excited that he has doctor's orders for NO SCHOOL tomorrow. :)
I would appreciate your prayers for him. He really is hurting badly and is very swollen. I will have to get up and keep changing out the ice and making sure he gets Tylenol every four hours. The doctor warned me in his office to not get behind on the ice or on the meds -- he said the next 24 hours or so are going to be really hard for Zacho.
Tim and the kids are trying to get Zachy to consent to a hot pink cast - they even said they will get him a shirt that says Tough Guys Wear Pink :) I don't know how far they will get -- he has a week to think about it.
Gotta get back to my busyness. Lots of chores that need attention and need to do SOMETHING with my pile of receipts before they get inadvertently scattered. Will try to post pictures this week. Would appreciate your prayers for us!
