What a heavy heart I have today. Scripture talks about those who are under evil leaders having heavy hearts. I can understand. I had sincerely hoped and believed we would see a miracle yesterday - a choice for freedoms, a choice for what is right.
What saddens me most is the motivation behind the choice. People were saying it was their pocketbook that led them to choose our new leadership. As a nation we have chosen to sell our morality for our pleasures --- I fear it is our very soul that we have sold. Daddy sent out a quote this morning by Samuel Adams:
"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, go from us in peace. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!'"
It is a sad commentary. Tim and I were discussing the morning of the election the choices that the nation of Israel made when they decided that they wanted a king. God desired to be their king -- He warned the people the evil that would follow their choice but yet scripture said they desired to be like other nations and so they chose -- they chose to set aside God's Kingship and take the consequences of a king they knew would bring them trials and grief. We prayed that America would not chose so foolishly but as we all know now, it has unfolded unfortunately and America also has chosen to set aside God's Kingship for their own desires.
(It was interesting my M.I.L sent out a article this afternoon citing some of those same thoughts --Jan Markell wrote the article if you are interested)
Where does that leave us as His people??? Do we despair??? We cannot. We must choose individually and as a body that we desire His Kingship. Tim reminded the kidlets --- this isn't our kingdom. Our eyes really cannot be here. As I reminded myself last week, our trust cannot be in our govt (good or bad) or on anything else. Our trust must be in our King - the King of Kings. He has not changed. He has not left us. He is still the same -- yesterday, today and FOREVER. What comfort there is in that simple truth --- with the world shifting paradigms so rapidly, with the economy and our financial security dangling over a precipice, with our freedoms at risk we can still remain at peace but HE does NOT change.
So I keep breathing :)
I keep striving to become what His desire is for me to become - not from compulsion and I don't want to strive from fear but rather from love, devotion, and the knowledge that the life HE has for me is better than anything I could contrive outside His design and plan for my life. We may be in for a bumpy ride; things could get ugly but we STILL have a God who has it in control.
Really ---- Ti's so sweet to trust in Jesus.............
