Well....... yesterday didn't go as smoothly as one would hope. Elijah went over a jump at the ski hill and his ski fell off mid-air (lovely) He obviously crashed. Unfortunately, as he landed his ski that had fallen off went under him and cut him quite deeply actually on his patella. His ski cut through his ski pants, his jeans, and his polyprolene long underwear and still cut his knee deep enough to see the kneecap. BLECH! I was SO glad that Tim insists they wear helmets. His helmet got scratched pretty good, probably by his other ski. I told Elijah without his helmet he probably would have been getting stitches on his head as well as his leg.
The ski patrol checked him out and declared he could not ski anymore for the day and that he had to get stitches. Tim called home and I went out and picked him up and took him into the doctor. They gave him six stitches. She said under normal circumstances she probably would have stopped at four but with it being a moving joint and considering that Elijah was anxious to go on the snowshoe hike today she felt a couple extra stitches would be good insurance against it ripping open.
Tim and boys just left with backpacks loaded, snowshoes, and all the necessities for a weekend in the wilderness. They are excited and looking forward to the adventure.
Always something exciting around here :)
The rest of the kids had a great time yesterday. Judah has taken to skiing like a fish in water. Tim said that he kept having to tell him to SLOW DOWN because he needs to work on skill not just speed. Tim said Judah plowed over a cone shaped sign that weighed 30 pounds, brushed himself off and went back down the hill. What a crazy!
Well....... on to my day. Taxes today and chores - blech - maybe snowshoeing wouldn't have been SO bad :)
