Once in awhile I see glimpses of who my children will become -- it is such a blessing to see those pictures of what lies ahead. It strengthens my heart for the day-to-day business and busyness of our life. Yesterday was one of those moments.
My two littlest kidlets have been so miserably sick. Eyes that are almost swollen shut and water profusely, a strong croupy cough that frightens them as they struggle to breathe, a steadily running nose........ poor little guys!
ANYWAY it has been a long few nights for me -- I have slept on the couch for the most part sitting up to help Koliah breathe -- he has been gagging and coughing so badly. Last night Bekah-boo was doing the same thing and was so upset. Gabrielle came out of their room to get Bekah a drink of water and I offered for Gabrielle to bring Bekah into the living room with Koliah and I. Gabrielle not only declined my offer but so tenderly, patiently and gently cared for her little sister. She is going to be an awesome Mom someday.
Josiah also came up at about 12:39 last night and offered to take the baby for me so that I could get some rest. While I declined his offer and sent him back to bed so he could rest for school today, my heart was sincerely touched by his generosity. He also is SOOOO extremely patient with the little guys. Whether it is sledding with Bekah and Judah or holding Koliah his patience seems to have no limit.
All the kids have pinch-hit for me doing extra chores, helping with meals, taking care of siblings, helping with extra animal chores and responsibilities. It is wonderful to see them giving without selfishness or resentment - just doing what needs done with a spirit of love and family. I am truly blessed.
