They keep me hopping :)

We spent a good chunk of Friday night in the local ER. Yes, it was Judah - AGAIN!!! That child is all boy to the enth-most degree!

The girls and I went to Lynde and baby Havalah's baby shower but Tim called while we were there. Tim doesn't get excited over bumps and cuts, maybe because he had his share growing up. However, just from his voice on the phone I knew we had a bigger-than-normal situation.

I grabbed the girls and immediately went zooming to the hospital. I started admissions for Judah and kept touching base with Timmer on the phone. Our trip to town doesn't seem that long except when you are waiting at the hospital to have your son admitted.

Our new neighbor (the one that just bought our old house) drove Tim and Judah to town. Tim was able to hold and comfort Judah as well as keep a compress on his head, which he could not have done if he had been driving. I was blessed by their kindness.

Tim walked in the ER with blood down his shirt. Judah had blood everywhere. Hard site to see for a mom. Judah had slipped out to ride his bike (he was supposed to be doing a chore) and had crashed on some loose gravel. He punched a quarter-sized hold completely out of his head and you could see his skull at the base of the opening. Of course head wounds bleed viciously so he looked like he was at death's door. :)

We thought that he had punched right through his handlebar grips. The wound was so symmetric and cleanly punched, no ragged edges or anything like that. However, when we looked at his bike after we got home the grips are still intact and in great shape. He must have hit a sharp rock exactly right???

The staff at the ER was great -- they got us in triage right away and put some numbing gel on the wound which helped a lot. We got a great PA who stitched Judah's head and who dealt so well with little guys. He did 6-8 stitches down in the wound by the skull. I lost exact count because I couldn't watch that closely - it was a little much for me to be honest. Then Judah got another six top stitches in bright blue The PA thought Judah would like that and he really did -- it became part of his bragging rights :)

The Lord took care of us in all aspects. One of my friends came and picked up the girls so they didn't have to stay in the ER for the hours we were there. It was Friday night and ER is always occupied with shall we say less than normal folks??? It was a great comfort to me to know the girls were with my friend. Judah's head injury was up towards his hairline so he didn't have to face dental work or eye injuries or anything else that would have been far more traumatic and long lasting. I was in town and able to get registration almost completely finished before Tim and Judah's arrival. Our kind neighbor who drove them to the hospital -- The staff that got us in quickly and helped with skill and grace. I was so thankful that the Lord's peace was with us -- Judah was SOOO calm and at ease. The PA said with someone his size they usually have to "papoose" which if I remember correctly from transcription is wrapping and tying them down so they can do stitches but Judah laid quietly and talked to us. He kept squeezing my fingers which we told him to do if he was nervous but he handled it with a lot of courage for such a little guy.

On the way home he commented to us that his head was "kicking" --- Tim rapidly figured out that he meant throbbing :) He's proudly worn his stitches and shared his story with everyone who will listen for the past five days including checkers, tellers, and passers-by. Little boys are so funny about their "war-wounds".

We got the stitches out yesterday with no problems -- Judah was a little bummed. He said he looked a lot cooler with all the blue stitches :)

He was back on his bicycle Saturday!!!
