Judah is really quick-witted for his age. He constantly is making me laugh which makes it difficult sometimes to keep him in line.
To preface this I guess I have to explain we got a new-to-us movie this weekend -- a copy of the latest Disney movie called Bolt. I have to say here that it was a really pleasant movie, clean and enjoyable to watch. Definitely a winner in our opinion. ANYWAY..... in the movie is a character that works as a manager for the main character. Every time he doesn't like what the main character is concerned about he says "boop, let's put a pin in it and we will discuss this further". The line varies a little but it is purely procrastination/manipulation to get the main character to do things his way. You hear him "put a pin in it" about half a dozen times throughout the show.
Yesterday I was running errands in town. Not my favorite occupation --- and not the kids favorite either but it had to be done. Judah started getting stinky and I was getting very tired of the poor behavior. I told Judah he was way past chances and was going to be disciplined if he didn't knock it off. He thought for a minute and asked how imminent his discipline was -- are you going to wait until we get home or is it immediate was his question. I should have known I was in trouble at this point.
I told him it was IMMINENT. Things got really quiet for about 10 seconds and then he said, (and I quote) Mom, how about we boop, put a pin in it???
I started laughing. How do you recover from that in Parenting 101??
