Let It Snow - Let It Snow - Let It Snow

You know the old song --

"Well the weather outside is frightful but the fire is so delightful and since we've no place to go, Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!!"

I have thought of that song a lot the last few days. A cold snap hit Montana and we went from pleasant to quite cold in the matter of a day. The high yesterday was around -5 and today it is a whopping -6.

We spent the end of last week preparing things for the animals to stay warm - winterizing pens, houses, coops, etc. and also trying to winterize both houses so we don't have frozen pipes. Trying to keep fires burning in two houses has kept us running!!!

We got several inches of snow but the wind and the temperatures have been the worst. We have barely seen the animals - they are hunkered down and staying warm. My boys on the other hand decided it was a perfect time to get Frost Points for Scouts. They have to get 100 points for a badge each year -- one point equals one degree below freezing (32 degrees) so last night they earned over half of their frost points. You read that correctly --- it was -20 and my boys decided to sleep outside in a tent. They are NUTS!!!! They even convinced a friend to stay out their with them -- CRAZY kids!!! It was cold enough for me INSIDE the house. :)

Worse yet, they are planning to sleep out again tonight to try and get the rest of their points. By the end of the week they are saying we might have a high of 15 degrees. I need some hot chocolate just thinking about it!!! I will check back when I am warm. Have a wonderful day!
