Giving Thanks recap :)

Our Thanksgiving was wonderful. Tim and the kids hunted for the first part of the morning, leaving just the little ones and me home. We had fun starting to work on our Thanksgiving dinner. Most of our frilly stuff is packed up at the moment so the table, etc was very simple. The kids had a great time baking, cooking, and arranging. My cousin, his pregnant wife, and their little boy came to share the meal with us. It was very quiet, very peaceful. Elijah had butchered one of the toms from the spring. After all the plucking, cleaning, etc. it was 32 pounds!!! So, we had yard bird (very tasty) and our other traditional Thanksgiving dishes.

We watched Wall-E -- no offense to anyone here --- but that was not our favorite movie. The only ones that liked it were the very littlest guys (ages 2-4) I was disappointed. I normally LOVE Pixar movies. It wasn't a bad movie, nothing I remember as objectionable it just seemed to drag on for everyone over four years of age. Maybe I wasn't the intended audience :)

We had left-overs for days and enjoyed the company of my cousin's family for several days until we were all pretty full of turkey and all the extras were finished. We watched a couple of other movies throughout the next few days.

Can I be forceful here and say that one movie is a MUST SEE!!!! You really must - must - MUST see it this Christmas season!!! It is a documentary but don't drop me here.

It is called the "Star of Bethlehem" and it actually explores the real astronomical evidences of the Christmas Star. It is SOOOO fabulous --- the kids loved it. We've watched three times since Thanksgiving because there is so much knowledge it is hard to grasp it all the first time around. Absolutely phenomenal !!! Scripture tells us that the Heavens DECLARE the glory of God -- indeed they do. It is so overwhelming to think that (as the presenter Mr. Lawson) states that from the moment, the very instant that God spoke the universe into existence that he had ordained the stars and planets to speak of the coming of His Son and of Christ's death on the cross. It is something that the more you think of, the more it takes your breath away. If I could I would send you all a copy for Christmas. It is that remarkable.

Life is mostly back to normal this week. Elijah is finished butchering the deer, elk and antelope. He did a fabulous job and it is wonderful to see meat in the freezer again this year. We are so thankful to the Lord for His provision. Elijah has some more turkeys and three goats to help butcher yet but he needs a break (understandably)

ConfiDance is tomorrow -- our last for the year -- that is always SO much fun.

We got some light snows the last couple of days -- it is starting to feel more like winter to me. I love how the seasons change here. Each is unique, each is different...... I love it.

I will try to post some pix this week - keep checking back.
