Judah's friends

Judah was chatting with me a few days ago. "You know what makes me sad" he said....... (this is where I should have put my guard up a little more tightly)

No, what makes you sad I replied. With a dramatic, very large sigh he says...... I have never got to pick out a baby chick of my own. All the other kids have chickens of their own, but not me.

He must know I have "Sucker-Mommy" stamped across my forehead.

Today on a shopping trip in town we stopped by Murdochs -- much to his surprise and delight to see what was left. The selection was terrible, only two types of chicks left in the store that he could choose from but he chose two little chicks -- both aracaunas (they lay colored eggs which is fun) One is brown and one is yellow. He decided on the way home that the brown one is Champion and the yellow one is Hope. What delight I have enjoyed watching him. The price was well worth it -- a couple of dollars and the future of more eggs ahead.

The oldest turkeys are spending their days outside, just bringing them back in at night. I am so glad. I am ready for them to transition to being outside birds. Once they are about a month old they start to be ugly and start to smell like ......... turkeys. Yuck. They are almost fully feathered. Hopefully next week will be warm and pretty so that they can make the complete transition. We have been hardening them off, like I mentioned, but it is supposed to rain this weekend so we will wait to see what next week's weather promises before they completely move outside. The geese are doing great -- we are all still enjoying watching them and listening to them talk to us.

Pepper is due to kid -- our first freshening this spring in two weeks. Spring time is so much fun.

We are fighting a touch of the flu yesterday and today. Belle was in bed all day yesterday. I am hopeful that it will pass us quickly and not leave us ill for Easter. I don't want to miss Easter's celebration. I heard a teacher on the radio today say that the real meaning of Easter is "risen" --- Happy Easter is such a promise -- Happy Resurrection!!!! I hope your "risen" celebration is blessed with joy in His promises (He never changes!!!), hope that He is in fact RISEN (He conquered death for us!!!), and that the peace from our Father that Jesus Christ still reigns today (He is in control) !!!!

Have a marvelous spring day!
