Sorry I have not kept up with blogging. My friend reminded me I haven't been here for a month. Thank you for your patience and for your interest in the lives of the Walker Family :)
The last six weeks have been a push to finish up our old house and prepare to list it for sale. Huge decision for us and not our original course of action but I feel at peace with the decision. The push to list though required us to finish all the things we have waited to do and just have not had time nor energy to pursue. In addition I had to track down a new keyboard as my ergo finally bit the dust. Can't complain I guess. I used that even when I transcribed and loved it -- so it has been around at least ten years --- It definitely lived a full life :)
As I mentioned in my last post Gabrielle, Zachy and I started the project the week the boys (and Tim) left for camp. We got a lot of packing/cleaning accomplished and started repainting but had miles to go yet even after Tim and the boys returned.
Elijah stayed an extra week at Melita Island and had a FABULOUS time sailing and doing some other activities there with the scouts. I was glad that he had some opportunities to spread his wings and enjoy some new adventures.
Tim worked on what needed to be completed on the new house roof. I am happy to say that although the venting still needs some work next summer (at the ridge) the roof is waterproof. Tim also expanded the porch into a mud room which is FABULOUS and looks great as his work always does. I will try to get some pictures posted as soon as possible. Tim's computer is currently defunked -- sitting in the new house. As soon as I can download the cameras I will add some new pictures here. Tim also worked with the kids to get firewood for the winter as we only have wood heat in the new house at present and I just kept plugging away at things over here.
Things always go so much slower than I want or even than I plan. It gets discouraging sometimes. My friend Rebecca brought her family for three days to help us and that gave us the shot in the arm we needed. Elijah worked tirelessly to refloor the house and did a really nice job installing floating floor. It looks SO nice!!! Tim handled some electric things that I am afraid to touch - electricity is intimidating to me! He installed some new fans, switches that were quirky and misc things like that. He just finished yesterday installing shutter doors for the desk area by the front door. The kids pulled fence today and have the yards pretty well cleaned up. Things look pretty sharp here over all.
We have met with the realtor a couple of times - a great realtor and a friend which makes it all the better. The only thing holding us up now is a determination on our boundary line relocation. We tried to even out our property lines making it more 2 acres on one side and 2 on the other -- right now it is 1.7 on one and 2.2 on the other. As soon as we hear we can list. I am praying and waiting. I am faced again with my character flaws -- I am SO impatient and I worry far too much!!!
My friend sent me a scripture to encourage me ---....Today, I will sow prayers instead of cares...to bring forth the fruitful harvest that is....the peace of God!! Philippians 4 (amplified) I cried.
On a lighter note - Bekah gave herself her first hair "cut" and I say that very loosely. I stepped outside to take care of something and in a heartbeat Judah came out with Bekah and said that she had hurt herself. I couldn't fathom how she could have gone from quietly watching a movie to hurting herself so rapidly and she wasn't crying. She just sniffled and was telling me "Owie Mommy!" I couldn't see any blood. What could she have done???
I saw a small red welt just above the bridge of her nose but Judah told me he had fell down bonked her when he was bringing her to me. We came back to the house and I continued with my chores. Gabrielle walked in and let out a howl -- WHAT HAPPENED TO BEKAH'S HAIR?!?!?!??!
Indeed right at the top of her forehead is a HUGE bald spot the size of a tennis ball. How lovely with a weekend planned full of activities. ConfiDance Saturday, PEARLS picnic Sunday. FABULOUS.........
I couldn't for the life of me figure out what she had done. It looked like her hair just disappeared. There was no scissors, to chunks of curly locks on the floor, not even any stubble. Gabrielle and I instituted a search but found nothing. What had happened?!?!?!?
About 30 minutes later we gave up and resumed our responsibilities. Nothing was going to change the fact she had a bald spot. As I worked painting the master bathroom Gabrielle came in to tell me something and said in a strange hollow voice.... Mom........ I turned around to see the cordless screw gun wound with an ENORMOUS chunk of auburn curls.
Yes indeed.... my little darlin had extracted her hair with the screw gun and the welt on the bridge of her nose was not as Judah suspected from their fall but rather from where the screw gun battery and walloped her in the head as it let loose. The battery pack fit the mark perfectly. We are always SO careful with corded tools - I never dreamed she would injure herself on the cordless - it isn't a powerhouse. It barely turns a screw since it fell off the ladder.
Tim laughed at my efforts to do a "comb-over" on my two year old. What will she get into next???? For the next few days she has run like a shot every time she hears ANY power tool OWIE MOMMY NO!!! Her concern has not lasted long however --- she is back into exploring. I'm glad we are pretty much finished!!!!
Well.... I should get back to my busyness. Still a few odds and ends that need my attention. I would covet your prayers for us as the permit coordinator makes her decision and we list this house. Gotta scoot -- I hope your day is great!
