Weekly Report

Well.... I have to confess, I have been putting off writing as there hasn't been much to report the last two weeks.

Tim and I are still working on the house during our spare minutes -- Tim almost has the ceiling finished in the great room. It looks absolutely fabulous! Tim's work always does. I will try to get some newer pictures posted this week -- still fighting with my CD reader.

I am still plodding away with tape/mud. I am definitely not fast at this skill; it isn't something that has come "naturally" to me. It is always good to stretch though and to learn something new.

Elijah and Josiah had Boy Scout camp this last weekend. They came home filthy, hungry, exhausted and absolutely elated. They had a great time.

Gabrielle's PEARLS group went to see the new Chronicles of Narnia episode yesterday "Prince Caspian". It was not completely true to the book which is always somewhat disappointing --- why change Lewis??? That's a soapbox for another day. On the whole though the movie was excellent; the things that were added/deleted were in keeping with the style and theme of the book. We would see it again. Special effects were great; we really enjoyed it. The PEARLS allowed siblings to come also so Elijah and Josiah went with us. They can't wait until it is on DVD, especially Zachy. He didn't get to see it yesterday. Tim and I were concerned because of all the battles in this book that it would be too intense on the big screen. It is hard to be ALMOST eight years old.

Judah and Zachy are keeping me running most every day. Both of them are changing and growing quickly. It seems like just yesterday I was still pregnant with Bekah. Time has flown.

Our bees are doing well. At our check last week we found the queens were still caged which was a bummer. We had to loose them and hope they would find a family in the hive. It was a little worrisome but overall went well. The queens released the hive went into full swing. We checked them again today to find eggs, larva, and lots of honey filled comb already built.

I started to agree with Josiah. They really are marvelous little creatures. I stood holding a frame completely covered in bees and watched them as they scurried about caring for each other, filling cells, and tending to their work despite my intrusion into their VERY busy schedule. I didn't even get stung today or last week!! Improvement!

Every day we have gone out to watch the bees flying in and out of the hive - so earnest in their work. Their little bag legs carrying what could be mistaken for little buckets of brightly colored pollen. It has been a phenomenal adventure.

I am looking forward to our OWN honey --- what a fabulous treat that will be!!

Nothing much else to say today --- spring is coming which makes me ecstatic. I love the smells and feel of spring. I can't wait to see our lilacs in bloom and I can't wait to see them hanging with little buzzing honeybees either. It is amazing how one's perspective changes. I have always loved flowers and enjoyed them in my yard, garden or wildflowers about on the property. Having little buzzing creatures that use that pollen however has made me FAR more aware of every little blossom, some of which I would have passed by before because they are so inconspicuous.

I need to skedaddle (that is an old-fashioned word is it not?) --- need to return to my taping :)

Hope your day is filled with wonder!!
