Christmas cooking (and related events :) )

Yesterday the Walker Family started our Christmas baking. We love to make numerous types of treats and then give them away -- I don't want to miss out on those memories. I loved baking during the holidays with my Mom and Grandma but who needs the temptation of having all those things in your house!?!?!?! So we share them which is lots of fun and protects my already well-padded waistline :)

It has been fun to watch the older kids learning how to make different things, becoming more independant. My role has changed with them to just supervisor and question answerer. Judah had a BLAST -- his job was sugar press cookies (Spritz) and he had a grand time turning the handle, watching the dough come out and appear on the cookie pan in fun shapes. He sprinkled sugar and was amazed when the cookies emerged from the oven that he had "made cookies"

Gabrielle and I were in the middle of pouring hot fudge into a pan to cool when I glanced underneath my feet at Bekah who had become strangely quiet. I knew something was up...... she had retrieved the bottle of green food coloring from the layered mint fudge and was quietly dropping green food coloring one drop at a time all over her body from her feet to her thighs and rubbing them into her skin like lotion. She was rapidly taking on the look of the grinch who stole Christmas. She had some in her mouth also -- what a sight. When she realized Mom was on to her activities she got up and bolted, leaving deep green footprints from one side of the kitchen to the other where I snagged her and put her in the kitchen sink!!!

While I was washing her hair Zachy came in the kitchen and Gabrielle let out an AAAGH! I turned around and uttered an exclamation similar but louder than hers!!! Zachy had a BALD spot right up the center of his head. Zachy has a fear of his hair being long because it is SOOO curly. He had feared that his widow's peak was starting to curl and he didn't want to look "like a girl" so he CUT IT OUT -- he now had a bald spot up the center of his head. I now have to shave off the rest...........

What could I do but laugh? It's either laugh or stress - food coloring cleans up, hair grows back (THANKFULLY!)

What is it scripture says, A merry heart does good like a medicine?? I had a good dose yesterday!! Who knows what today will hold!!!
